Adjustments

We had a great flight. There was some turbulence for what seemed like the entire flight. So, both of us (B&R) had some sensitive stomachs upon landing. There was only one obnoxious traveler who was in too much of a hurry to wait on us four to de-board the plane. But God worked it out that after we were ready and in the aisle to de-board, several people in front of us took their time getting their luggage, so he had to wait on them too.

We arrived home around 1:30pm (local time), which was about 20 hours from the time we left where we were staying in the US. The majority of everything was in order. We noticed that one of our next door neighbors had chopped off limbs from our tree on our side of the fence. This is not surprising as both sets of next door neighbors are pills. We started unpacking, then decided to drive to the supermarket to get some essentials, pick up some food, and run an errand.

The errand was going by the school to talk about school spots. However, the entire staff is on summer vacation until the end of the month. We don't know what this means for getting a spot in the school, but we have no choice except to trust God's provision.

Around 4pm jet lag had set in, and none of us could stay up any longer so we went to bed. B had not slept any on the airplane. The rest of the crew only had a few hours of sleep on the airplane. The next morning R slept until about midnight, then was wide awake and unpacked all the suitcases. The girls and their daddy slept until about 9am.

We all walked to get some lunch, and we ran into a little girl that LG knew from her former school. And then at lunch one of our neighbors asked us to come over for a short visit. It's nice to have been away for six months and then come back to seeing people on the street we know and being warmly welcomed. Even though we've been here for five years, the first few weeks back are spent re-acculturating, and it is helps to have friendly support to ease back into the culture.

Mid-morning I (B) walked to the local supermarket to pick up a few more items. I saw a guy wearing a T-shirt that said, "Lost and Loving It." I am sure the T-shirt was not an intentional spiritual statement, but it conveyed to me the need here. If there are those, and it is highly likely in a post-Christian society, who know they are "lost," then our job is to show them that their condition is not a desired one. And for those who are not aware of their lostness, our job through the Holy Spirit's conviction is to awaken them to their futility and to show them the path to abundant life (in being found).
